Zusammenfassung

Abstract: In his doctoral thesis at the University of Technology, Darmstadt the author investigates three methods for teaching mathematics at university level over an interval of three years. The first method is the deductive axiomatic way. The second is the well known genetic method suggested by the German mathematician Felix Klein in the first third of the 20th century and intensively propagated by Martin Wagenschein. The third method is a also a genetic one but enriched by a modern computer aided learning environment. The methods were adapted for their use in practice and compared directly at three university courses on catastrophe theory held by the author at the University of Applied Sciences, Darmstadt in the years 2002 to 2004. The results of the evaluation are shown.
